Born in Alessandria, Italy, on 6th June 1964, he graduated in Business Economics from Milan’s Università Bocconi and furthered his studies in Europe and in the United States. His professional career got under way in the telecommunications sector, where he soon achieved significant results, including an active role, in 1995, in the creation of the TIM start-up and its subsequent establishment in Latin American markets.
After a number of years working abroad, where his achievements included the confirmation of TIM Brasile as the country’s second biggest operator, Patuano returned to Italy in 2008 to take up senior posts in Gruppo Telecom Italia, serving as its Chief Executive from 2011 to 2016.
Over the years, he broadened his experience and, in October 2016, was appointed Chief Executive of the Benetton family’s holding company, Edizione srl, a position he held for three years. In 2017, one of his passions became a profession when he joined the Board of AC Milan, keeping the position even after the change in ownership in 2018.
In 2018, he founded MP Invest, a financial and investment advisory firm. Since 2019, he has been a senior advisor with Nomura and is a member of the Board of Directors of Digital Value.
In the course of his career, Patuano has held various prestigious posts as head of Fondazione Telecom Italia, Fondazione Bocconi and Fondazione Istituto Europeo di Oncologia, and with universities in Italy and the United States. Currently, he is also Vice President of Utilitalia and, since May 2020, Chairman of the A2A Group.
