This area focuses on:

• Waste collection and street cleaning: mainly involving street cleaning and waste collection, including transportation to the appropriate treatment or disposal facilities.
• Waste treatment: carried out at dedicated facilities, where waste is processed to make it suitable for material recovery.
• Municipal and special waste disposal: waste is treated in combustion plants or disposed of in landfills, with potential energy recovery through waste-to-energy processes or biogas utilisation.
• Integrated water cycle: including water abstraction, aqueduct management, water distribution, sewer network management and wastewater treatment.
• Sale of heat and electricity: heat and electricity produced by cogeneration plants are supplied through district heating networks, alongside operation and maintenance activities for cogeneration plants and district heating networks.
