The 12-year agreement contributes to the development of new renewable capacity in support of the country’s energy transition
Milan, 9 February 2026 – A2A and Ramacca Energia S.r.l., a company belonging to the portfolio managed by Sosteneo SGR S.p.A. (part of the Generali Investments platform), have signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of solar energy amounting to around 130 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 48,000 households and nearly 60,000 tonnes of avoided CO2 emissions.
The agreement, which sets out A2A’s purchase of the energy output from 68 MW photovoltaic plant to be built in Ramacca (Sicily) and expected to enter into operation in the second half of 2027, contributes to the development of new renewable infrastructure in Italy and enables additional green generation to support the country’s energy transition.
“In line with the update of our 2035 Strategic Plan, A2A continues to promote the development of renewables with a dual objective: supporting the electrification of consumption and helping stabilise commodity costs by operating as an Energy Management platform capable of aggregating green energy produced both by our own plants and by third-party operators, thus increasing the share of decarbonised energy available to customers,” said Lorenzo Spadoni, Director of the Generation & Trading Business Unit at A2A. “Renewables are also a key lever for achieving the Group’s Net Zero target by 2050: the agreement with Sosteneo represents a step forward towards this important goal.”
With this Power Purchase Agreement, A2A – the second-largest national energy operator – reaffirms its commitment to decarbonisation and to the country’s ecological transition. The Group’s Strategic Plan, which foresees €23 billion in investments by 2035, allocates significant resources to an increasingly efficient and green generation mix. Long-term partnerships also make it possible to meet energy consumption needs while offering greater protection against price volatility.
Sosteneo, an asset management company, is pleased to launch this collaboration with A2A, which represents a tangible step towards expanding renewable capacity in Italy while strengthening its own investment platform. As a long-term investor in energy infrastructure, Sosteneo is committed to developing physical infrastructure that enables the production and integration of clean energy, generating stable and sustainable value for its stakeholders and for the communities in which it operates.
