Milan 23 July 2015 – The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the multi-utility A2A have signed a 15-year €200 million loan agreement to finance electricity and gas networks and public lighting.
The investment programme is intended to expand and upgrade the networks serving primarily the cities of Milan, Bergamo and Brescia.
In the electricity and gas distribution the main purpose of the programme is to build and modernize substations, improve security and reliability of supply of electricity and gas, upgrade the hardware and continue to meet the quality standards set by the national legislature. The programme includes the connections of new users to the networks and the installation of smart gas meters.
With regard to public lighting, the programme includes investments to replace, in the cities of Milan and Brescia, the traditional system with LED lamps allowing to obtain benefits on the energy efficiency.
Today’s agreement, which is a further consolidation of the relations between the A2A Group and the EIB, is in line with the strategic plan of A2A and the financial strategy of the Group aimed to increase the duration and to reduce the cost of debt, diversifying the financing sources.
