“No life without water”: the podcast about the importance of this precious resource in the circular economy

Water has an incredibly adventurous and fascinating life. What is contained in a simple drinking glass, before reaching us, has travelled around the world many times: it has been in the oceans, in rain-laden clouds, in underground aquifers, in a cycle that has been repeating itself for millions of years.

Today, with the new challenges brought by climate change and by our behaviour, which is leading to extreme weather events, now, more than ever, it is up to us to protect water and to use it wisely and responsibly.

In three 15-minute episodes, Serena Giacomin, atmospheric physicist, climatologist and President of the Italian Climate Network, addresses the role of climate change in water management and, with the contribution of experts from the scientific world and key opinion leaders in the sector, offers new insights into an issue that is crucial for the economic and social development of our country.

The hottest days in the world

If it could talk, the water we drink every day would have wonderful stories to tell. With the voices of climatologist Luca Mercalli and Francesca Greco of the London Water Research Group, Serena Giacomin tells how our water is doing in times of climate change, global warming and extreme weather events. And also what memories and desires, as human beings, bind us to water.

Episode 2

The roots of the vines

In the Langhe, wine is a true institution: it is wealth, history, culture. Mario Calabresi interviewed one of the most popular wine producers in Piedmont - and beyond - Angelo Gaja. From his grandmother’s advice to the consequences of climate change for wine production, Angelo Gaja has painted a life-filled fresco on the history of his land, recounting how it is inextricably linked to the water cycle.

The masters of water

In some of his most famous codices, Leonardo da Vinci treated the subject of water under many different lenses: that of art, engineering, science. If he were alive today, perhaps, Leonardo da Vinci would be very interested in researching ideas to tackle climate change even more effectively.
