At A2A, we promote sustainable procurement by integrating environmental, social and governance criteria across all stages of supply chain management. Through our Responsible Procurement model, we select, assess and monitor suppliers with the aim of preventing negative impacts, safeguarding human and labour rights, reducing environmental impacts and strengthening ethical and responsible conduct throughout the entire value chain.
The commitment of our Group is based on recognised international standards and on continuous dialogue with business partners, in the belief that a sustainable supply chain is a key factor in creating long-term value.
We promote respect for human rights and fair working conditions across the entire value chain. This commitment particularly concerns the workers of suppliers and contractors, who are often involved in operational activities at the Group’s construction sites and plants. We integrate these principles into procurement processes through dedicated policies, supplier assessment also covering social and labour protection aspects, and compliance with applicable regulations and collective agreements. In this way, we are able to prevent the main social risks and contribute to the development of a responsible supply chain, attentive to safety, dignity and people’s rights.
Our Group contributes to the climate transition by addressing indirect emissions across the value chain (Scope 3), which represent a significant component of our overall impact. We have launched a dedicated project for the calculation and reduction of emissions related to purchased goods and services, the construction and maintenance of networks and plants, waste management and end-of-life of products, using internationally recognised methodologies.
Within this pathway, we take an active role in supporting SMEs within the supply chain, promoting opportunities for dialogue and support through local Forums. These initiatives are designed to strengthen suppliers’ capabilities in emissions measurement, decarbonisation and sustainability, encouraging the collection of primary data and greater awareness of climate impacts. The involvement of the most relevant suppliers, also through the support of EcoVadis integrated into ESG assessment processes, and the introduction of targets linked to carbon maturity, contribute to supporting SMEs in their improvement journey, fostering the adoption of emission reduction policies and the definition of targets consistent with the Group’s transition objectives.
