Full Professor of Constitutional Law, Faculty of Law, University of Milan (since 2004).
Court of cassation lawyer since 2009, handling the defence on important human rights and discrimination issues in national and supranational courts.
Spoke Leader, Human Hall, Applied Research Centre on Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence, University of Milan (since 2023).
Founder, in 2012, of the Vox rights association, which promotes research and other projects in the field of human rights and, more specifically, in the sphere of inclusive language. 
Author of more than 350 publications on subjects relating to constitutional justice, constitutional law and fundamental rights, over 20 of which monographs, and including works in English (for the complete list, refer to the CV at the University of Milan website.

Awards and recognition

Awarded numerous research projects in Italy and Europe on the subjects of constitutional law and fundamental rights.

  • January 2025 - Sigillo di San Gerolamo Award, Milan Bar Association, for innovative professional activity in constitutional law and fundamental rights
  • June 2022: winner of ‘Volti della metropoli’ (Faces of the metropolis) Prize
  • 2020: awarded the Jean Monnet European Fundamental Rights and Women’s Rights chair
  • 2011: prize winner, Leadership in Equality and the Struggle for LGBT Rights, Chair Equal Opportunities Commission – L. Stuart Milk, Nicole Murray Rameriz
  • 13 January 2015: winner of the first edition of the CILD (Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights) Prize for having obtained, as lawyer, the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the Oliari and others versus Italy case relating to the recognition of unions between people of the same sex

Graduated in 1987 in Law with Prof. Valerio Onida in Constitutional Law. Doctorate in Constitutional Law. Researcher in 1991 at the University of Milan. Associate professor in 1999 at the University of Insubria. Visiting professor in 2001 at the University of Insubria. Since 2004, full professor at the University of Milan and Women’s Rights in the Constitutional State.
